Traveling with Joe

Living life one Rolled Taco at a time

Past the 1/2 way mark!

Nobody is exactly sure how many Kilometers it is from our starting point in Ronscavales to our ending point in Santiago de Composteles.  Everybody takes the photograph of the 790km sign where we started on the trail but that is the distance on the highway.  The Camino does a bit more wandering than a modern highway.  I do know that on the trail today somebody.. Day 15, Sunshine & Pilgrims

Today was a first in more than one way.  It was the first really nice day we’ve had since the trip started on March 14 and it’s the first day when there were actually an appreciable number of other people on the trail.  We were told to expect more Pilgrims after Easter but apparently there is an uptick in Camino traffic the week before Easter.. Where we started, where we are, and how we got here

One of the really bad side effects of trying to Blog when you are fatigued is that you inadvertently erase some really cool stuff.  I’m not 100% sure but I think I just erased two or three days of photos that I took with the Phone because I couldn’t take my camera out in the rain.  Marji has some cool shots so I will have.. 1/2 Horse Town

Again, too tired to Blog.  Actually it’s almost 3am and I just woke up (again) so I thought I’d at least post the FitBit stats. Yesterday was a hellish day hiking in the mud.  Not only does it stick to your boots but every step is like a suction cup. Even though today was only 20km, I felt every one of them.  The good news.. 25 degrees (Fahrenheit), 27 Kilometers, Snow, Sleet, Rain & Mud

Catchy Subject line I know but unfortunately this will be a sandwich without any filling.  It’s 12:30am and I’ve just woken up after going to bed at 8:30pm.  I needed to check some emails while it was still working hours back home and now I’m going to make a quick post and go back to bed. Today was indeed 27 kilometers (17 miles), we actually.. Read More

Day 10 – Looking back and looking forward

I wrote a long piece about why I thought I might be walking the Camino a second time.  Looking back I’m not 100% sure that I nailed it but there is some truth to what I was thinking.  Uh, then there’s the rest. When I came here in October I got my ass kicked.  By the end of the first week I had almost bombed.. Read More

Keep on Walking

Here are last week’s FitBit stats and yesterdays FitBit report.  Yesterday was a full on snow blizzard which was COLD.  Only 550km +/- left to go. March 23, 2015 Joe Jeter     I forgot to turn on my GPS for the first couple hours so the day was actually much further.  Yeah!

Rocking the Rioja Region

Today is day 8 out of 34 days that we will walk the Camino.  I haven’t really studied the itinerary but I know we don’t have any 100% rest days.  Jorge, our guide, did say that we have a really short day when we get close to Leon but that’s a ways out.  The last few days have been REALLY hard on me so this.. Logrono (in the Rioga Region – barely)

Uh, no idea what day this is.   I split off from the group first things this morning and just got into a groove.  Then I met Barbara, a Phd Graduate from Hungary currently living in Rome.  She was trying to make it to the same town I was; Logrono, and she was TIRED.  We “pulled” each other and actually made very good time but..
