I know that people have written about Orlando countless times and I’m pretty sure I don’t have anything new to add. Still, I wanted to wait until the smoke settled and say a few words.
First, my heart bleeds for all of those lost souls. I think not only about the deceased, but the layer after layer of friends and relatives that will grieve indefinitely over their lost ones. To me it is unimaginable that someone could inflict that much damage and let’s not get into gun control.
But I pray that people don’t use this to go after Muslims. I’ve spent time in the Middle East and have met many Muslims here in the United States. They are first and foremost people. Some are good and some are bad but this guy was a wack job. If the news of the day was Mickey Mouse I believe he would have called 911 and said he was doing it for Mickey. It would appear that he had a confused background that culminated in a horrible massacre. Look at the bright side; we won’t spend any money prosecuting him.
It has been my experience that in any country where you can’t get laid before marriage the boys have sex with the boys. In Afghanistan in particular they use young boys as sex objects and it has been part of their culture for a long, long time. Here’s an interesting piece about man-boy sex in that country. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-afghan-dancingboys-idUSISL1848920071119
Now is the time to erase your prejudice and hate and focus on the real enemy, not one man who was obviously disturbed. In fact, go hug a Muslim friend. If you don’t have a Muslim friend then go make one. Yes, there are Muslim extremists but if you look at the mass shootings that have taken place in this country in the last few years it’s pretty much just crazy fucks. I believe that this guy was just a mixed up crazy fuck.
Don’t let this scare you; change your life or your opinions about an entire segment of the world’s population (1.8 billion?) Hold your head up high, do what you can for the hurting people in Orlando, and move on with your life. Don’t use this opportunity to foster hate and distrust.
Oh, and Fuck Donald Trump.

My old tennis buddy and neighbor Salah ( may Allah and or God rest his soul ) was a kind and gentle person and all of the Muslim friends he introduced me to in the US and Egypt when we went there with our families seemed to be the same. Those are not the radical Islamists who are the enemy of both the Western world who in many cases have given them shelter and other sects of Islam they don’t agree with. The killings in Iraq continue and it’s Muslim on Muslim, along with ISIL doing a good job of the same, all across the middle east. The countries who have given them most shelter i.e. Germany, Denmark, France etc. are paying the price as we did at the Boston Marathon with Muslims from Russia. The issue is not the radical few who are stirred up by mulahs preaching hate, it’s the silent majority of Muslims who have remained very silent about the violence of the crazy few.
Donald Trump’s approach may not be the rational answer, but the reticence of Obama and Hillary Clinton in an effort at political correctness, to not be up front about Radical Islam is wearing thin. The issue is here, the killings are real and we should stand United against these crazies or they will continue to pick us apart. Oh and outlawing a few types of guns will not do anything.. Timothy Mcveigh was a crazy bastard and did not have a gun..
