I’m going to walk across Spain.

As some of you know, I am leaving Sept 28 and won’t be back until sometime in November. Initially I will be flying to Barcelona, spending the night, flying to Pamplona (where they run the Bulls), spending the night, then meeting 17 strangers where we will be bussed to a small village near the French border in eastern Spain. For the following 35 days we will walk 700 Km (about 435 miles) to Santiago de Compostela. This is a famous trek believed to be done by St James over 1,000 years ago. Tens of thousands of Pilgrims make this journey every year. Obviously I am no Pilgrim but I wanted to shake things up so when I heard about this opportunity I jumped on it. When I lived in Madrid we traveled all over Spain so I know some of the areas we will be walking through. This is the definition of rural. I will probably have phone service but I think my phone will be off most of the time. I hope to Journal the trip hence the purpose of this email. My website www.joejeter.com has been converted into a Blog. It is a work in progress but I have a Graphic Designer and Blog expert coming over on Sunday to finalize the design and details. For now, the Blog is up and running and I have some sample posts on it. Probably the best way to reach me will be to register on my Blog and make comments. Keep in mind they will be public unless I decide to pull them off and keep them to myself, but if you comment on the Blog I will definitely see it. This is a long way to walk and, frankly, I’m a little concerned that I might not make it but I’m going to give it hell. So if you’re trying to reach me I am essentially gone all of October. On November 6 I will probably be flying to San Francisco and meeting up with Tim and we could be in the Bay Area until as late as Nov 15. But when I’m back in the USA I will have my phone and regular internet. In Spain it’s going to be very hit and miss. Please don’t expect a rapid response to anything. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY CONTACT TIM. HE WILL HAVE MY DAILY ITINERARY INCLUDING THE LOCATIONS AND HOPEFULLY PHONE NUMBERS OF THE HOSTELS AND HOTELS I WILL BE STAYING AT.
