Why would I choose to be away from home for Easter

This was the Easter greeting video I got from my loving family.  Hmmm, I wonder why I was in Spain when this party was going on? TRULY A JOURNEY OF ONE MILLION STEPS

It’s 11:20pm and I just got in from dinner with my fellow Pilgrims.   This is the hard part; saying goodbye to people you’ve shared 5 weeks of your life with.  They’ve seen you at your best and your worst and vice versa but none of that matters.  Even if you weren’t terribly close there is a melancholy to the separation.  It is highly likely.. Hang me upside down and paint me green

We just arrived at our hotel 11km outside of Santiago.  Breakfast starts at 7am tomorrow which means we could be at the Pilgrim’s Stone in the middle of the Santiago Cathedral Square by 10:00am or 10:30am.  Boy do I have a surprise for you…..but it wouldn’t be a surprise if i gave you any hints. But I do know this.  I am only 20,000 steps.. Read More

I can smell Santiago – or the rain washed away the cow patties

Before I get into todays post, here’s the updated step-count. One Million Steps here we come! I’ve taken a few pictures the last couple of days but it’s more of the same.  Stunningly beautiful Vistas, ancient buildings, a cow, a horse, a few dogs, some cow shit on the road, other Pilgrims and blue sky – until today.  The forecasts had been saying rain for.. ’twas the day before the day before the day before……..

Tuesday morning in a cheap hotel. We can’t even start eating breakfast until 8am because that’s when the Guide will bring in the food.  If we want to eat earlier, we have to eat a “Spanish Breakfast” which consists of Coffee and Toast & Jam. You think I’m kidding?  Nope.  How these people don’t drop dead from bad diet is a mystery suitable for the.. Read More

Just before you have an orgasm…….

Ok, I’m experimenting with Blog Page titles.  They say “Sex Sells” so if I get more hits on this title I will start making sexual innuendos in all of them.  In the meantime, what I mean to say is that we are about to “Get There”.  Tonight we are in Sarria which is about 120km from Santiago de Composteles; our final destination on foot.  It’s.. Will I make it to 1 Million Steps?

The above graph shows my daily step activity since the Camino walk started.  It’s going to be close whether or not I log a full million steps.  Based on the current step-count and the estimated total mileage I think I’m going to come up short.  Guess I’ll just have to keep on walking until I do.  NOT GONNA HAPPEN.   It’s 2am.. From Leon – Semana Santa Weekend (Easter)

Today is day 2 of my rest days.  4 out of the 6 people in our group decided to take two days off here because we were exhausted from the constant walking and lack of sleep and because Leon is a beautiful city. I was here in October and got a decent tour of the old town but this morning I took off and saw.. Read More

April Fools Day in Spain and wouldn’t you know it’s not a “thing” here.  I did think about a great prank to pull on my of my fellow hikers but decided not to do it.  I did laugh out loud while I was dreaming it up so I guess I got my kicks without actually pulling her chain. We are at the official 1/2 way.. Read More
